Survivor 28: You Madea Big Mistake -- Episode 9 Recap/Analysis

(DISCLAIMER: In case you can't hear the disclaimer in the episode because of audio issues... we're having audio issues. New setup, so hopefully it should be over quickly. Bear with us, we shall overcome, etc.)

As pointless twists threaten to slam the brakes on this season, we're here with a late and belaboured discussion of this week's episode. Was there a way out for Spencer and Tasha (and Jeremy) beyond getting 'lucky' with the idol? We can give angry jeremiads about the Tyler Perry idol all we like, but how could and should it affect things? And, though Tony's safety may be ensured for now, is there enough in his bag of tricks to carry him to the finals and through a jury vote? All this, and more, on this week's show, available below, here, or on iTunes here.

I think the fact that the move by Tony was presented as a temporary solution and not so much as anything Spencer did, is actually (in my opinion) both not so great for Spencer (even though he did say "we can just let them kill each other" but it also validates Trish' and Kass' approach that they still decided to trust Tony (and that they still should trust him). So I don't see it as a bad thing for them at all.

RE: Sarah falling of the hammock

I think it's probably something they could show either way because it's funny, but I'd say if she wins, they cut out Lindsey saying "dreams do come true on Survivor".

RE: Argument between Trish and Tony

I agree with whoever said we're could be meant to take Trish' side (sorry can't remember if it was Dom or Colin).

I think there's been a continuing theme this season where Trish has been the voice of reason while Tony is doing "Tony things" and I think this falls right into the same category (I hadn't even thought about it this way but now that you mentioned it, I think it makes perfect sense).

Maybe even you've talked about how there was a period of time when everyone that Trish wanted gone went home and then the first vote that went the way Tony wanted (Tony wanted Morgan, Trish wanted Tasha), I felt it was obvious that Trish was supposed to be seen as the one being right.

And now Tony is starting to annoy his alliance because of his constant strategizing so I think it's perfect that Trish is trying to put a stop to it, and it could be seen as a good thing conversely to what a lot of people seem to think.

    RE: Tony's chances of winning

I saw a good comment regarding this on facebook: If Tony goes with Trish and Kass, he'll have a good chance of winning but he won't get there. If he goes with Tasha and Spencer, he has a good chance of getting to the end but won't get enough votes to win. So I don't think he has a great chance of winning at this point. His best shot would probably be with Kass, Trish and Jefra and hope that they're dumb enough to take him to the end. I just don't think they are that dumb.
